The scene where Django and Dr Schulz ride out from the barn resembles one of the trademarks of John Ford's directorial style as they are framed within a doorway.

Ford was well known for classic Westerns and his imprint can be seen in several QT films. Ford would often prominently depict characters framed in open doorways especially in his film The Searchers.

Spoiler: While Dr. King Shultz was always intended to be a good man per both Quentin Tarantino's ideas for the character and Christoph Waltz's condition that King never do anything evil in the role , he was never intended to be a perfect person in two ways.

One is that, as he bluntly says at one point to Django, he makes his money by killing people and turning their corpses over to the authorities for cash. The other is that Shultz was presented as both overly proud and a control freak. And this latter trait led to his death, as he was so sickened at having to deal with Calvin Candie that he shot and killed him, leading to his own death when Butch Pooch shot him in return. The scene at Candyland where Django is asked to spell out his name resembles the bar scene in Pulp Fiction where Butch and Vicent exchange words at Marcelleus' bar. When we first see Calvin Candie, he is seated on a couch with his back to the camera, blowing plumes of smoke. The film was always intended to earn an R rating, and in fact it got the R designation from the MPA on its first review.

But Quentin Tarantino had time to do a final review of that cut for himself, and decided that he wanted to reduce some elements of gore and torture in the movie because he thought things would play better for audiences without them.

After he made these edits, the movie went through another MPA review and was told right after it was over and that it would still have an R rating, which was accepted. Cameo Franco Nero : The lead actor from Django , the movie which inspired this one, has a cameo as the owner of the slave that fights against a slave owned by Calvin Candie the screenplay gives his character the name Amerigo Vassepi.

When Dr. King Schultz Christoph Waltz puts the dynamite in the tooth atop the wagon, he is whistling the Django theme song. Body count: sixty-nine. Calvin Candie is constantly eating candy and sugary delectables, which causes his rotten teeth. That connects four things in the plot: Mr. Candie is rotting from the inside because of his evil nature according to Quentin Tarantino , Dr.

King Schultz is a dentist-turned-bounty-hunter who "gets rid of" the human cavity, who is Calvin Candie, Mr. Calvin's farm is named "Candyland", and sugar was one of the main crops harvested by slaves. The notoriously famous shoot-out between Django and Calvin Candie's henchmen was not written in the final script. Instead, he and Broomhilda were immediately captured after Dr.

King Schultz's demise. A situation is created where his first character Speck is shot and killed by Christoph Waltz Dr. King Schultz. Thereafter, Remar's second character Pooch , in turn, shoots and kills Dr. In effect, Waltz kills Remar and later Remar kills him back. About halfway through the film, Dr. Unfortunately, that is exactly where he ends up dying.

In the finished draft of the script, the character of Billy Crash was written to be much more brutal and sadistic. A scene of him raping and tormenting Broomhilda in his cabin was cut from the final film.

His original death from Django was also much different. Instead of shooting Crash to death at the end, Django takes a large knife and throws it at his chest as he leaves his cabin after his assault on Broomhilda. Calvin Candie Leonardo DiCaprio kills nobody, but under his instruction, is responsible for two deaths. Gainey is saying before he is killed by Django Jamie Foxx is a version of Genesis , "And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the Earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the Earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. In the slave culture, black people were considered beasts, not fellow men.

Calvin Candy's death, shot through a white carnation pinned to his jacket, is taken from the spaghetti-western The Mercenary The music playing during the scene in the Italian film is also used in Tarantino's film Kill Bill: Vol.

In November, , in his monologue while hosting Saturday Night Live , Jamie Foxx promoted the movie and included this: "And in the movie I had to wear chains. How whack is that?

But don't be worried about it, because I get out the chains, I get free, I save my wife, and I kill all the white people in the movie. How great is that? One of the main characters crotch is covered in one scene, but nude everywhere else.

And there are 2 full male frontal, but it happens so incredibly fast, you'd have to precisely pause it to see So as long as you don't do that. Personally it doesn't bother me, but it's there a good amount of times.

But one takeaway I got was to not erase history, America is kinda doing that. And even though the history here is dark, we need to accept it, and learn from the mistakes of the 's. You kinda need to dig deep to find some messages.

I hope you enjoy this movie, it is definitely not for everyone though. Teen, 13 years old Written by rayhang April 15, Sick cowboy slavery tale is too mature for teens This movie is awesome.

From start to finish, the plot is done ever so well, everybody is characterized brilliantly, and the plot itself is an extravagant masterpiece. Every scene deserves praising in this film. Its extremely violent, tons of blood, graphic killings, gore, etc; but the action still puts you on the edge of your seat.

One scene where a woman's breast is briefly shown and a full-frontal nudity scene with brief views of a mans genitals. The amount of swearing in this film is preposterous, with very frequent usage of ni--er, f--k, goddamn, damn, bitch, ass, etc; EVERY single character says the n word at least once. Smoking is also very frequent in this film. After all, its based partially upon cowboy's.

All in all this is a masterpiece of a film, everything is done well. I have no complaints whatsoever. Teen, 13 years old Written by Monkeysarefunny February 11, Violent but good It's really violent and they say the N-word a lot But it is a really satisfying western revenge style movie definitely worth watching as are all Tarantino movies.

Great but for mature kids only. The language is horrific and they use then N word over times in the film. Also the violence is very bad too. If your child can get past the language and violence he should be fine. Teen, 17 years old Written by rileyhowardsullivang February 6, Many very gory deaths including the entire inside of a building being sprayed down with blood after a gunfight.

There is also nudity, not in a sexual context but it still exists. Breasts can be seen as well as djangos anus, balls and penis.

It is brief and you have to look closely to notice but it is still there. Join Today. Sign Up. I Support Learn More. Latest Stories. More ». Sign Up Now No Thanks. Become a member and go ad-free! In Nigger: The Strange Career of a Troublesome Word, Harvard professor Randall Kennedy sees his subject as "the nuclear bomb of racial epithets", a weapon that's been used to wound and degrade black people for three centuries.

Some of those who still view it that way continue to want it banned completely from both public and private discourse. Yet the response to Django Unchained has been surprisingly mild. Some people suggest that the film's forthright vocabulary may even serve to enhance race relations. The comedian Lenny Bruce shared Tarantino's infatuation.

Julian Barry's Oscar-nominated screenplay for his biographical film, Lenny, has him justifying it thus: "It's the suppression of the word that gives it the power, the violence, the viciousness. If President Kennedy would just go on television and say … 'Nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger, nigger' to every nigger he saw … till nigger didn't mean anything any more, then you could never make some six-year-old black kid cry because somebody called him a nigger at school.

Others have argued that sheer repetition is the way to defang the word. Not everyone accepts that over-exposure is sufficient to destroy evil: some argue that "nigger" is too robust to be so easily disposed of.

Rapper Ashley Walters renounced his own infatuation with the word after hearing from a child victim of playground bullies. There are also those who believe the the removal of the taboo would trivialise the legacy of racial oppression. Other hate-labels have been eliminated successfully through a recognisable cycle of decontamination.

First, the target-group reclaims the insult and starts flaunting it as a badge of collective pride.
